Sustainable Rural Design in a Bushfire Landscape

OTL Consulting Group secured planning approval for a contemporary earth-sheltered dwelling within a rural landscape setting. The proposal integrates the home into the natural topography through earth-formed buttresses and a low-profile design, responding carefully to the surrounding views, vegetation and environmental constraints.

Bushfire, Land Management & Technical Coordination

The application required detailed consideration of bushfire risk, defendable space, and long-term land management outcomes. We coordinated the Bushfire Management Statement, Land Management Plan and supporting technical documentation to demonstrate compliance with BAL-29 construction requirements and the broader environmental objectives of the site.

From Strategy to Permit Issue

Our role included preparation of the town planning report, management of the application process and coordination with Council through to permit issue and endorsement of plans. Planning approval has now been secured, providing a clear pathway for construction of this innovative and environmentally responsive earth home.
